Materials- Obsidian, Fire Opal and Sterling Silver 925
I’ve always been a strange lady and this ring shows it- why complicate your life when everything can be so simple? I often ask myself this questions in midst of self made chaos... I then take a step back and appreciate my disasters, weirdness and eagerness for the abnormal and different. This ring in a way kind of shows that- that my desire to create something strange and different is beyond me.
This beautiful stranger of a ring is made with a Mexican mined and cut Obsidian and Fire Opal- purchased from my Taxco based stone cutter Angel. An unbeatable duo these stones were almost made to be set along side one another- both materials sacred to Mesoamerica cultures and created in the midst of volcanic eruption deep within the earth. This piece is just a glimpse of many more to come that combines Obsidians and Opals- my new favourite stones. Made by me in my Montreal studio from reclaimed sterling silver- YHY logo stamped on the back of the silky band.
YHY + Note to Buyers
All of the pieces in my collections are entirely handmade by me, from nearly every single step in the process. Because of this, my jewelry is unique and not a single piece is identical to another, nor are they perfect. My work is embedded in imperfections, and the fingerprints of the hands that create them are seeped in the metal. It’s a style option and preference and what I love, and ultimately what gives these pieces characteristic and charm.
